Ilya Moshchitsky is a theatre director and curator. His artistic practice focuses on finding new forms of interaction between audience, performer and space. He sees theatre as a place of exploration and shared experience. Since March 2022, he has lived and worked in Yerevan. He leads the independent theatre company Chronotope, founded in 2018, and is one of the curators of Chronofest, an international festival of contemporary theatre and performance. The company creates original theatre projects, while the festival brings together independent artists and theatre collectives from different countries. His best-known works include The Trial of John Demjanjuk: A Holocaust Cabaret, The Book of Disquiet, Michael Craig-Martin’s Oak Tree and To Forget.
